Laser Welder Cost: Machine Prices and What You Pay On Top

By Stefan Florin3 min read

Research-based, not hands-on: we have not tested these machines. Some links may pay us a commission, which never changes the order or the verdict. See our editorial policy.

A handheld laser welder next to an argon cylinder, wire spools and safety glasses

The short answer

The machine is the big number: $3,499.99 to $8,499 for the 700 W to 1500 W units we priced, and $12,499 for the Everlast RedSabre 2000. The extras you can price from published listings add a few hundred dollars in the first year. The extras you cannot price (extraction, electrical work, training) may add more. We say which is which below.

Machine prices

MachineListed priceWarranty
Xlaserlab X1 (460 W diode, 0.2 to 2 mm, no wire feeder)$2,999.991 year
Xlaserlab X1 Pro (700 W fiber)$3,499.991 year
OMTech 1000W$3,599.991 year
xTool MetalFab 800W$4,69912 months
OMTech 1500W 3-in-1$5,499.991 year
ArcCaptain LW1200$7,2993 years
Everlast RedSabre 1500$8,4995 years

Prices were read from each maker's page on October 4, 2026. Several are shown as sale prices against a much higher "regular" price (OMTech 1000W against $7,499.99, ArcCaptain against $10,999), so judge each by what you would actually pay.

Extras we could price

ItemPriceSource
Argon, 80 cu ft, contents only (refill, no cylinder)$69.99Tractor Supply
1064 nm laser safety glasses$194.00Laser Safety Industries
ER70S-6 steel wire, 1.0 mm, 5 kg$79.99Xlaserlab accessory listing
ER308L stainless wire, 1.0 mm, 5 kg$179.99Xlaserlab accessory listing

A note on the glasses: that product is rated for 1064 nm. xTool states its welder needs eyewear for 1080 plus or minus 10 nm at optical density above 6. Do not buy by price. Match the band. See the safety guide.

A first-year sketch from sourced prices only

Take the X1 Pro at $3,499.99, one argon refill, one pair of glasses and 5 kg of ER308L wire. That adds up to $3,943.97. With the xTool 800W at $4,699, its goggles listed as included (so we skip the glasses line), one argon refill and 5 kg of ER308L, the total is $4,948.98.

Those totals leave out the argon cylinder if you do not own one, sales tax, shipping, a fume extractor, any electrician time and training. They are a floor, not a quote.

Running costs the makers mention

xTool says its nozzle set lasts about 3 months and a pack of 10 protection lenses about 2 months. That is a maker figure with no usage basis, so treat it as a guide. We found no independent data on gas or wire use per hour.

Costs we could not price

  • Fume extraction. A portable unit like the Lincoln Miniflex exists, but we could not extract a price. See why you need it in the safety guide.
  • Electrical work. Several machines need 220 to 240 V. xTool's own pages give three different circuit ratings for the 1200W model.
  • Training. xTool advertises free one-on-one training. We found no third-party course prices.

Hidden costs: returns and duties

Return terms differ a lot. xTool charges 10% (unopened), 15% (opened, unused) or 30% (opened, used) of the order total, and says the machine must have been "lasered less than 50 times". Xlaserlab lists a tiered fee of 8% to 15% for non-defective returns. Cloudray lists 10%, 20% or 50% and makes the buyer responsible for duties. ArcCaptain ships from a US warehouse. We could not confirm tariff treatment for any of these machines from an official source, so ask the seller who pays.

What we could not verify

  • The real price of the xTool MetalFab 1200W. xTool's pages disagree.
  • Current tariff rates on these machines.
  • The price of a fume extractor and of training.

The cheapest 3-in-1 here that lists a fiber laser, a wire feeder option and 100 to 250 V input. The lowest entry price also means the shortest warranty.

What we could not verify
  • The maker says it is "FDA & CE MD Approved". The FDA does not approve these products and we found no accession number.
  • Which feeder comes in which kit is not clear from the page.

xTool MetalFab 800W

$4,699

800W welder. The 1200W is listed at $7,999 in the store data, but xTool's pages disagree

The best-documented option, with a cited third-party test of the weld and goggles listed as included. The electrical specs differ between xTool's own pages, so check them before you wire a circuit.

What we could not verify
  • xTool's pages give three different circuit requirements for the 1200W.
  • Cooling type and plug type are not stated.
  • The 1200W price differs between xTool pages. Check the live page.

Welder

Everlast RedSabre 1500

Priced well above the imports, with a 5-year warranty from a US seller. The one to look at if support matters more than the sticker price.

What we could not verify
  • Everlast's page says 181 lb for the 1500 and 135 lb for the more powerful 2000. One of those is probably wrong.
