Handheld Laser Guide

Editorial Policy

Last updated October 4, 2026

This is how Handheld Laser Guide produces a guide, so you can judge how far to trust it.

Research, not testing

We do not test machines. A guide here is built from the maker's own product pages, published regulations (such as 21 CFR 1040.10), safety authorities (OSHA, NIOSH, the FDA, the EPA), standards bodies and independent articles where they exist. We say which kind of source each claim comes from. A maker's statement is called a claim.

Prices and dates

Every price is what a maker's page showed on the date given on the page. Machines go on sale, go out of stock and change specs. Treat any price as a snapshot and check the live page. When two pages from the same maker disagree, we say so rather than choosing one.

What we could not verify

Each guide ends with a list of what we could not confirm: a missing spec, a conflicting price, an FDA number nobody shows. If we have nothing to put in that list, we have probably not looked hard enough.

Ordering and money

Comparisons are ordered by price, lowest first. Commission does not enter into it. Read the affiliate disclosure for how the site earns money.

Safety content

Class 4 lasers can blind and start fires. Our safety guide collects what regulators and standards bodies say and links to them. It is not training and it does not replace a laser safety officer.

Corrections

If a figure is wrong, send it through the contact page. We check it against the source, fix the page and move its update date. We do not change a page's date without changing the page.
